the digital orange photo blog I like to think of myself as a tuxedo t-shirt because I want to be formal, but really I'm here to party.

Remember the Hurst Family??  Well they have a new addition to the family - as Austin Healey Sprite Mark I Bugeye.  It's a rad little car and made for the perfect prop to use in their family Christmas card portrait.

Mike - Father of the Blog:

Lisa - I used one light manually triggered and shot into an umbrella camera right. Notice the direction of the shadows falling off their legs.

I have a good friend.  His name is Tyler.  He is the Jedi force behind ocRAMPS.com.  He threw a killer party at their warehouse in Santa Ana and invited me to come out and shoot the event.  We had the Kogi truck out back, a bunch of bands, and plenty of Rockstars to keep the event pumping til the wee hours of the morning.

Fun fact - I got my first film camera back in high school so I could shoot me and my friends skateboarding and snowboarding.  I love shooting people and weddings, but the alternative sports are what got me started and I love it.

Do your kids, siblings, grandkids have a passion for an alternative sport?  You should probably hire me to shoot them.  I guarantee it will be the best gift they've ever received.  HINT - great Christmas gift idea for all you surfers, skaters, snowboarders, wakeboarders, BMX'ers and MotoX'ers.

Dave + Megan are a dream.  Coolest couple ever.

We had such a good time during the engagement session on the cliffs of Rancho Palos Verdes and I'm THRILLED to have met them.  I can't wait to spend more time with them on their wedding day in Lake Tahoe.

But for now, enjoy a few engagement photos.

Brandon and Coco were a dream to work with.  There were one of the happiest couples I've ever seen. Here are some of my favorite shots:

Also, big thanks to Bethany Murphy for coming along as my second shooter.  Be sure and check out her work, she's rad.

Last month I had the great pleasure of working with the talented Rachel Thurston at one of her weddings.  It was so nice to be a second shooter at a wedding for once.  No pressure, no list of shots to get, just look for different angles and shoot something different.  AWESOME.  I loved it.  And working with Rachel and her husband Grant was first class.  They are bad-to-the-bone and I hope to work with them in the future.

I started the day out shooting the groom with his family at Cafe Pinot before the ceremony.  The families and friends in attendance were some of the nicest people ever.  Everyone greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to make us feel appreciated.  I'm glad I could be there.
