the digital orange photo blog I like to think of myself as a tuxedo t-shirt because I want to be formal, but really I'm here to party.

I'm Mike Cunningham and this is my photo blog.

I'm headed up to Utah tonight.  I'm doing a photobooth for the Tooele High School 10-year reunion tomorrow in Salt Lake City.  I'm so stoked.

For all you Utah peeps, I'll be back up the end of July and will have some time to do a few portrait / engagement / family sessions.  Send me an email if you're interested.

Here's a few shots I took recently with my Holga camera.  I shot all of these on Kodak E 100 VS slide film (yes I shoot film from time to time believe it or not) and then had them cross-processed.  Enjoy.

These two love birds might look familiar from THIS shoot a few weeks back....

32950006 copy.jpgAndy - a true slasher of the liquid gnar.

32950007 copy.jpgBrendon - associate to my general counsel

32950012 copy.jpgE Hawley - a true friend and lover of peace.  War Dav is a lucky man.

32960002 copy.jpgI took this one of Scott and Carly during their engagement session.  I'm digging the light leak.

32960004 copy.jpgJeff Brown - the mastermind behind JB's Daily Download.  It has changed my iTunes forever.

SanFranHolga_04 copy.jpgBoat ride from Sausalito to San Francisco.  Such a cool place.

SanFranHolga_07 copy.jpgSan Francisco.  What a city.  I love it.

Have a great weekend.

Stunning.  Incredible.  Succulent.  Billowy.  Immaculate.

Just a few words to describe the Butchart Gardens in Victoria B.C.  This truly is one of Canda's finer gems.  We pulled up to the Gardens and almost didn't go in because it was somewhat expensive; however, we quickly repented once we went in.

The place was amazing.  If any of you live in Canada, I suggest having your wedding here.  You'd be cooler than Donald Trump.

All images were shot with either my 50mm 1.2L or 24mm 1.4L wide open.

Fact:  Several notable films have been filmed in Astoria Oregon.  Cinematic gems like Short Circuit, Kindergarten Cop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Free Willy I and II, but none come close to the greatness of Goonies.  That's right, the Goonies.  (Insert image of Chunk doing the truffle shuffle outside the picket fence).

The first stop of our cruise was in Astoria.  To say that city is beautiful and awesome doesn't do it justice.  The people in town were some of the nicest folks I've been around in a while.  Sit down and enjoy the ride as I walk you through our adventure in Goonie - ville.

Astoria_01.jpgThis is a shot of the harbor from the roof of the cruise ship.  Such a cool little town nestled up against the Pacific Ocean and Columbia River.

Astoria_02.jpgAs soon as we got off the boat, it started pouring rain.  Here are the Brown's galloping through the puddles.  They immediately regretted that decision.

Astoria_04.jpgPylons in the Columbia River.  Pretty cool green moss.

Astoria_06.jpgBrandon and Kiele managed to find the greatest pecan pie.  Courtesy of the Custard King.

Astoria_08.jpgHow's that for killer landscaping??

Astoria_10.jpgAwesome backyard, with a killer view in the front.

Astoria_15.jpgWe then walked up to the Astoria Column.  Yes, we walked the whole way.  It was quite the trek, but the views were incredible.  These lovely ladies happened to be at the column and willing to pose for the photo.

Astoria_16.jpgThen it was time for Jessica Alba....wait I mean AnDrea to strike a pose.

The other ladies wanted in on the action....so we came up with this little diddy.  I'm quite pleased with these shots.  Thank you ladies for being so colorful and awesome.

Sake Boom shaka.

Astoria_24.jpgThen it was back down to the riverwalk to begin our trek to the Goonies house.

You can't see it....but the Trolley car was literally 20 feet behind her right before we shot this.  Well worth it I'd say.  Right Benin?  :)

Astoria_31.jpgYou don't get rain puddles like this too often in Orange County.

We finally made it.  THE GOONIES HOUSE!!!

Proof that I was there.

Dear Astoria, you're like having your cake and eating it too.  I shall visit you again some day and bask in your beauty.

The End.

Does such a thing exist?  After being on a boat for a week, I still feel like I'm swaying back and forth.  Maybe that's not such a bad thing....as it serves as a constant reminder of the awesome trip.

It was my maiden voyage on the open seas aboard a vessel fit for thousands.  My thoughts?  Loved it.  Can't wait to do it again.  Here's a few quickies as I sort though the photos.

Splendor_0231 copy.jpgHappy Memorial Day.  Shot this on our balcony the first day at sea.

Splendor_0275 copy.jpgThe Red Carpet Lounge kept us entertained til about 4am every morning.

Splendor_0239 copy.jpg
The boat was covered in these pink circles.  They were a huge hit with Dinsbach.

Splendor_0293 copy.jpgMerz.  The only thing missing from this photo is her Diet Coke.

Astoria, OR was a dream.

Then it was off to Canada.  If you've ever heard that British Columbia is beautiful, I'm here to tell you the stories are true.  We hit up Victoria, Vancouver and Whistler.  Each was beyond awesome.

More this week....
